All Boxing Weight Classes – 2025

Boxing relies on it’s different weight classes, fighters come in all shapes and sizes. There is currently 17 (18 including Bridgerweight) different weight classes in professional boxing. From Strawweight through to Heavyweight. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at all the boxing weight classes each weight class and the champions that have made their mark in the history of the sport. Strawweight

The first weight class is the Strawweight division, which is for boxers who weigh up to 105 lbs (47.6 kg). The most well-known champion in this division is Ricardo “Finito” Lopez from Mexico, who held the title for almost a decade from the early 1990s to the early 2000s. Lopez was a master of his craft, with an incredible record of 51 wins and 1 draw, with 38 of those wins coming by way of knockout.

Junior Flyweight

The next division is the Junior Flyweight division, for boxers who weigh up to 108 lbs (49 kg). One of the most famous champions in this division is Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez from Nicaragua, who held the title for several years in the 2010s. Gonzalez was known for his incredible punching power and technical ability, with a record of 50 wins and only 2 losses.

Flyweight

The Flyweight division is for boxers who weigh up to 112 lbs (50.8 kg). One of the most famous boxers in this division is Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Pacquiao held the Flyweight title early in his career before moving up through higher weight classes winning a total of 8 division world titles.

Junior Bantamweight

The Junior Bantamweight division is for boxers who weigh up to 115 lbs (52.2 kg). One of the most famous champions in this division is Vic Darchinyan, who was born in Armenia and fought out of Australia. Darchinyan was known for his unorthodox style and incredible power, with a record of 42 wins and 9 losses.

The Bantamweight division is for boxers who weigh up to 118 lbs (53.5 kg). One of the most famous champions in this division is Eder Jofre from Brazil, who held the title in the 1960s. Jofre was known for his technical ability and incredible power, with a record of 72 wins and only 2 losses.

Junior Featherweight

The Junior Featherweight division is for boxers who weigh up to 122 lbs (55.3 kg). One of the most famous champions in this division is Wilfredo Gómez from Puerto Rico, who held the title in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Gómez was known for his incredible punching power, with a record of 44 wins and only 2 losses.

Featherweight

The Featherweight division is for boxers who weigh up to 126 lbs (57.2 kg). One of the most famous champions in this division is Willie Pep from the United States, who held the title in the 1940s and 1950s. Pep was known for his incredible footwork and defensive skills, with a record of 229 wins and only 11 losses.

Junior Lightweight

The Junior Lightweight class is for boxers weighing up to 130 pounds (59 kg). One of the most notable boxers in this division is Julio Cesar Chavez, a Mexican boxer who is considered one of the greatest fighters of all time. He held multiple titles in this weight class and was a dominant force throughout his career.

Lightweight

The Lightweight class is for boxers weighing up to 135 pounds (61.2 kg). Roberto Duran, a Panamanian boxer, is one of the most famous boxers in this division. He was known for his quick hands, tough chin, and relentless fighting style. He held titles in this weight class and is considered one of the greatest lightweights of all time.

Junior Welterweight

The Junior Welterweight class for boxers weighing up to 140 pounds (63.5 kg). Aaron Pryor, an American boxer, is one of the most famous boxers in this division. He held titles in this weight class and was known for his power and aggressive fighting style.

Welterweight

The Welterweight category is for boxers weighing up to 147 pounds (66.7 kg). Sugar Ray Leonard, an American boxer, is one of the most famous boxers in this category. He held titles in this weight class and is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. Known as one of the 4 kings.

Junior Middleweight

Moving on to the Junior Middleweight category, which is for boxers weighing up to 154 pounds (69.9 kg), we have Thomas Hearns, an American boxer. He held titles in this weight class and was known for his punching power, earning him the nickname “The Hitman.”

Middleweight

Super Middleweight

The Super Middleweight category is for boxers weighing up to 168 pounds (76.2 kg). Joe Calzaghe, a Welsh boxer, is one of the most famous boxers in this weight class. He managed to retire undefeated with a record of 46-0

Light Heavyweight

The Light Heavyweight category is for boxers weighing up to 175 pounds (79.4 kg). Roy Jones Jr., an American boxer, is one of the most famous boxers in this category. He held multiple titles in different weight classes. Ya’ll must’ve forgot.

Cruiserweight

The Cruiserweight category is for boxers weighing up to 200 pounds (90.7 kg). Evander Holyfield, he originally started in the Cruiserweight division and dominated the division however he had the most success and fame in the heavyweight division.

Heavyweight

Finally, the Heavyweight category is for boxers weighing above 200 pounds, and it is the most prestigious weight class in boxing. Muhammad Ali, known as the greatest of all time, Olympic gold medallist and three time world champion.
