The year was 1995, and the boxing world was eagerly anticipating the comeback of one of the sport’s most iconic figures: Mike Tyson. After serving just shy of three years in prison, Tyson was set to face off against Peter McNeeley, a relatively unknown fighter from Massachusetts. The event was dubbed “The Sound and the Fury,” and it promised to be an explosive night of boxing.
The man in the crowd
Years later people talk more about the man in the crowd rather than the fight. The build-up to the fight was intense, with Tyson’s return to the ring being heavily hyped by the media.

He was seen as a larger-than-life figure, a heavyweight champion with a ferocious fighting style that had captivated audiences around the world. McNeeley, on the other hand, was seen as a sacrificial lamb, a journeyman fighter with little chance of defeating the once-great Tyson. However, McNeeley went on to say he was going to wrap Tyson in a “cocoon of horror” feeling confident in his chances. Many laughed at this statement which angered Peter in later interviews.

Questions were in the air though, was Tyson the same beast he was after prison as he was once before?
The fight itself lasted just 89 seconds, however, it did give us what many would agree was the most intense stare down in boxing history. Tyson dominated McNeeley from the opening bell. McNeeley was knocked down twice, and the referee stopped the fight, giving Tyson a TKO victory. But it was what happened in the crowd that would capture the attention of conspiracy theorists for years to come.
As the fight was taking place, a man was spotted in the crowd, holding what appears to be a modern day smart phone. This was in the year 1995 when phones could only make calls and camera phones were at-least 5 years away. Was this a time traveller?
What do you think?
Some people suspect the Mike Tyson time traveller was nothing more than a fan with a Casio QV-10A or the Casio QV-100 which do look similar to the “phone” used in the video but in my opinion are not the same. Is this an excuse to take people away from the reality? Was there really a time traveller at Mike Tyson vs Peter Mcneeley?
