Recently I interviewed Florin Lupu, he has been a fighter for a long time, a gym owner, coach and a family man. You may have seen him in the viral clip where he knocked out opponent Mohamed Kaddouri.
Who is he?
Florin Lupu is a fighter from Romania he owns and runs “Respect Gym” In Romania Bacău. My first exposure to Florin was when I stumbled a video online of him knocking out Mohamed Kaddouri with just one punch. What was also shocking was the height difference between the two opponents not just the incredible knockout. I searched frantically for the full fight but was unable to find it.
I re-edited the video and posted on social media where it went viral achieving over 60,000 likes and almost 2 million views. Luckily for me comments came in tagging Florin which enabled me to tag him and give him the credit he deserves and also find the full fight and begin speaking with the man himself. Following the post other big social media pages began sharing the video I made and making their own which was great for Florin.
Over the course of almost a year of back and forth messaging I have got to know Florin a little better, if he is not training or coaching he is travelling to events or spending time with his family. He is a genuine and honest man and I am glad I have got to know him better. I asked if he would like to have an interview we can share to give him more exposure. Here it is.
Interview transcript.
Me: This was one of the cleanest Knockouts, I’ve ever seen as soon as you hit him did you know it was over?
Florin: After that punch I knew it’s over because that right hand that I made I felt it in my whole body so when I see the way he fell down I said to myself yeah finally it’s over.
Me: You’ve competed in kickboxing, MMA, traditional boxing and now bare knuckle,which do you enjoy the most?
Florin: Yes I’ve been competing in many types but this one, the last one bare knuckle boxing it feels perfect for me so I want to do my best in this job so only bare knuckle boxing I am fighting.
Me: Now that right hand is deadly, you’ve just smashed the punch bag up what’s next?
Florin: Next I want to defend my title from Canada in that promotional Fight Night in Bare knuckle boxing and then I want to fight in one of the biggest promotions of bkb its called bkfc and why not I want to fight with Jake Paul…
