Toughest boxers of all time – Top 5

Today we look at some of the toughest boxers of all time. Chins of granite. You need a whole army to stop these men. Some are just built differently. This is our top 5.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler

Hagler was the world’s best middleweight for almost a full decade and undoubtedly one of the toughest boxers in history. In an era of the 4 kings (Hearns, Duran & Leonard) Non of them could put him down. Hagler only tasted the canvas only once, on a disputed knockdown to Juan Roldan. A truly sensational boxer and seriously tough man.

George Chuvalo

In an era of monsters, and arguably the most competitive heavyweight division in history. Including the likes of Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Patterson and Quarry. amazingly, he was never once off his feet. No other boxer in that era can say that. Not even the greatest. He was definitely one of the toughest fighters to ever do it in boxing.

Carl Froch

You’d often see Froch, hands low blocking punches with his face. Not a technique I’d recommend to any aspiring boxer but that’s probably because they aren’t build from granite like him. Froch has tasted the canvas on a couple of occasions but this is due to his square stance and has never really looked in trouble. He was always in top shape, which contributes to his ability to recover quickly.

Juan Manuel Marquez

He has built his legend around his ability to come back strong after being rocked by the kind of punches that would knock most fighters out. He is an exquisite counterpuncher, but he’s an aggressive one, too. He’s willing to put himself in danger to land his own big shot. It’s the Mexican style, take one to land one back but harder. He is confident that he’ll be able to stand up to whatever his opponent dishes out which makes him one of the toughest boxers ever.

#1 Toughest boxer – Gennady Golovkin

A man made from titanium. Golovkin is known for his overwhelming search-and-destroy style. This Olympian and multiple title holder is a brilliant offensive fighter who skillfully cuts through the ring and hits his opponents with elite power shots. His style works perfectly for his superior chin. In almost 400 fights in total he never went down. GGG routinely walks right through the kind of blows that would flatline most fighters. He is my number one toughest boxer of all time.
