The man known Luke Dyson has recently broken through social media algorithms and is known by most British combat sports fans. Despite not being intentionally divisive, his nature is, which gets people talking.
The most active fighter in the UK
The self-proclaimed “most active fighter in the UK” (although I wouldn’t doubt it) Dyson shows up everywhere, even having multiple bouts in a day and many over the course of a weekend. Dyson in 2025 is known to have over 140 fights, some on a professional level, but most are ‘white collar’ or ‘semi pro’ I was there to witness one of his last fights of 2024 at Ashton Promotions/FightUnit
Dyson was fighting another influencer in Jay Wise, Jay is more thoroughly trained and scientific and has a more traditional approach to fighting, unlike Luke Dyson. It was clear within seconds that all Jay had to do was avoid haymakers and would defeat Dyson with ease.
Is Luke Dyson any good?
Luke has had notable wins. If you like him or not, one thing you can say is he has power. If he lands, he can put you out. Tommy Hench has been on the receiving end of this. My opinion? Anyone who fights as much as Luke does picks up a thing or two. He’s certainly better than the untrained man. Is he going to win world titles or tournaments? My opinion, no. He does get much undeserved hate though, from people who have never stepped inside the boxing ring.
Luke openly admits that he doesn’t have a coach. He doesn’t train in the traditional way. If he did, he would be better. However, this is what makes him divisive. Many people admire the underdog, the honest grind, the determination, and arguably obsession. Me being one of them.
What does Luke Dyson want?
Like many that turn to combat sports, it seems that Dyson’s motivation lies in money and respect, over the last year, he’s beginning to earn more, he’s getting brand deals on social media, free products and you can see he’s enjoying this. He’s called to be on Misfits and would be a great addition to them if he’s accepted. The main concern is that (and he’s mentioned this himself) if he continues to fight as much as he is, there’s going to be nothing left, CTE will take over, he’s only in his early 30’s and he’s got lots of life left.
Best case scenario?
Luke has built up a big following with loyal supporters. If he can utilise his platforms and ease his way out of fighting each week, he could easily become a culture figure and enjoy it. If he continues the path he did in 2024, it’s not going to end pretty.
