Today we look at the best fight comebacks in history. Is there anything more exciting than seeing a fight like a real life Rocky movie? Brock, Silva, Ruiz.. these are some of my favorites. Let us know some of the ones you love in the comment section.
Emelianenko vs Randleman
Although Fedor won by submission, the fight featured one of the most brutal slams fighting history. Randleman slammed Fedor on his head “Randleplex” which resulted in breaking two of his ribs. Randleman used side control but Fedor struggled but managed to landed some strikes. Emelianenko grabbed Randleman’s right arm to set up a kimura. He managed to lock it in and Randleman screamed and tapped out.

Lesnar vs Carwin
In 2010 it was third time lucky for fight fans. Lesnar previously had to pull out of two matchups due to an illness (diverticulitis) Carwin was undefeated stopping all 12 of his opponents in the first round. Carwin unleashed an onslaught upon Lesnar and looked like he was going to become unlucky number 13. Brock was beaten down for 4 minutes straight on his back with no answers. With just shy of 1 minute left on the lock in the first round Brock managed to get himself back to his feet and tie Carwin up to see through the first round.
No omens on that day. In the second round Carwin looked spent, Lesnar managed to score a takedown and lock an arm triangle in place which forced Carwin to tap. After the first round you would never expect a result like that. Brock is made of something else.
Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen
August 7, 2010 Sonnen produced a real one sided fight. He outlanded Silva 320 – 64 5x more strikes. 3 times as many takedowns. He didn’t win a single round from a single judge. Did that matter? Just as it looked to be a dominant victory from Sonnen Silva pulled it out of the bag. After landing big Sonnen chased Silva to the ground. Silva Tied Sonnen up with a triangle and with 1 minute and 50 seconds left on the clock Sonnens dreams were over.
The stoppage must have looked very controversial at the time but the referee got it right which you can see in the slow motion replay.
Carl Froch vs Jermain Taylor
April 25, 2009 After winning the vacant WBC super middleweight title against Jean Pascal Taylor was Froch’s next fight. Froch was ranked below Taylor despite being the title holder. He was also on foreign soil, this showed in the fight landing big right hands and left hooks early on and was dropped in the third round.
Jermain had developed a big lead by the 6th round arguably winning all of them and scoring the knockdown. In the last quarter of the fight Taylor was still landing the bigger punches and more of them.. but Froch still had times of success. However! by the 11th round both fighters look spent. The quality had gone, the snap and neither were on their toes.
It became a battle of wills. Froch wasn’t going to loose this battle, with 45 second left of the final round Froch managed to claim a knockdown, this wouldnt be enough to win the fight, he needed the knockout. With 16 seconds of the last round thee referee stopped the fight after a final barrage where Taylor wasn’t defending himself.
Cheick Kongo vs Pat Barry
This is probably the greatest comeback in UFC history. Cheick Kongo vs Pat Barry – Barry knocks Kongo down three times and all of them look to be fight ending knockdowns. Many referees would stop the fight but he let the action continue and Kongo managed to eventually scramble to his feet and score a big knockout punch himself, and win the fight.
Danny Williams vs Mark Potter
An unbelievable boxing moment that looked like it came straight out of a Rocky movie. The commentator went on to say “he is in a no win situation and won’t give up” Incredible bravery and desire to win.
